Description of Indicator
This indicator provides a 10-year trend analysis of motor vehicle crashes causing death, injury, or property damage.
Why is it Important?
There are thousands of automobile crashes in our region each year, many of which can be prevented if motorists use caution. Further, injuries can be limited or prevented with the use of a seatbelt. Tracking trends and changes can lead to road and safety improvements.
How is the region performing?
While there have been some increases since COVID, most types of crashes in most geographies remain low with totals less than in the year 2000. Pedestrian deaths have no clear pattern. The numbers show no change in Luzerne and Wayne and a slight increase in Lackawanna.
