Description of Indicator
This indicator measures juvenile arrests regardless of the type of offense and trends and changes over time.
Why is it Important?
Juvenile arrests are an indicator of many issues from poverty to household violence. Tracking the data and investigating not only the types of crimes, but the offender’s background can lead to solutions to reduce juvenile crime.
How is the region performing?
The number of juvenile arrests has fluctuated with 2022 being a pretty significant year. The arrest numbers in 2023 vary. There is not a clear trend however, there were decreases seen annually in a number of pre-COVID years. The pandemic could have exacerbated an issue that has yet to be mitigated.
