Why is it important?
STEM-based industries help facilitate the creation of new technologies, products, and services that stimulate economic activity while simultaneously creating jobs. The postings demonstrate employment demand by industry.
How is the region performing?
The 2025 data show that STEM employment in the four-county region is highly concentrated in professional, technical, and knowledge-intensive industries. Computer Systems Design and Related Services and Architectural, Engineering, and Related Services stand out with the highest shares of STEM workers, with STEM jobs accounting for roughly 52.0 percent and 48.0 percent of total employment in these industries, respectively.
