Description of Indicator
This indicator shows the enrollment in Career and Technical Schools (CTC) in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties. In the region there are only three Career and Technical Schools and they offer part-time and comprehensive experiences. Wayne County does not have its own CTC; however, the districts work to provide some CTC training.
Why is it important?
Career and Technical Education enrollments offer some outlook regarding the future of industries associated with pathways offered at CTCs.
How is the region performing?
Growth in enrollment was significant at the Lackawanna and Wilkes-Barre Area CTCs from 2022 to 2023. The other schools showed slight decreases. Proficiency exam results improved somewhat at most of the schools, though Hazleton CTC showed decreases in its competency assessments.
