Description of the Indicator
This indicator shows charter school enrollment throughout the region. Data is sourced from the Future Ready PA Index.
Why is it important?
This indicator is important because it shows the number of students in a district who are obtaining their education outside the traditional public school system. Most charter schools do not offer complete K-12 learning, so students must eventually transition to a cyber, public, or private institution.
How is the region performing?
Overall charter school enrollment increased across Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wayne Counties between 2023 and 2024. Wyoming County was newly reported; there is no historical data to indicate enrollment trends.
