Description of Indicator
This indicator includes the categories of employment for each school district in the region. The categories are Professional Personnel, Administrators, Classroom Teachers, and Coordinators/Support. Each school district reports employment to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Why is it important?
Employment in education is important to monitor because it could indicate need to stabilize or decrease the student-teacher ratio and to better understand the composition of employees involved within the school district.
How is the region performing?
Numbers of classroom teachers increased in Lackawanna County but decreased in both Luzerne and Wayne Counties. The decreases could be effects of the teacher shortage. There has been little change in numbers of other district staff.
