Four-Year Cohort Graduation Rates

Description of Indicator
This indicator measures the 4-year cohort graduation rate for each school district in the region. The cohort graduation rates are measured by the percentage of the students who have graduated with a regular high school diploma within 4-years since entering high school.

Why is it important?
Graduation rates are important to understand from an economic standpoint because they are for decision making and future planning. Parents of future students could use this data to compare schools within a district. Districts and school leaders may evaluate graduation rates in order to identify opportunities for improvement and areas that need change.

How is the region performing?
In Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties, the 4-year cohort graduation rates recently increased. Wayne County experienced a slight decline but remains on par with the state rate.
