Description of Indicator
This indicator looks at the student-teacher ratio for each school district in the region.
Why is it important?
Student-teacher ratios are important because they reveal a school’s capacity to meet its students’ needs. A large ratio could mean there are not enough teachers to adequately disperse their attention among their students, whereas a low ratio may suggest sufficient instructional support.
How is the region performing?
Student teacher ratios range from 11.2 to 15.9 (by county average), with a consistent decline noted in Lackawanna County. The ratios range from 9.7 to 19.3 across all schools in the three counties. .
