This indicator measures the number of new vehicle registrations by size and type of vehicle for the region.

How is the region performing?
Lackawanna County has experienced a slight decrease of 0.4 percent in the number of passenger vehicle registrations from 2021 to 2022. Conversely, the total number of registrations for trucks greater than 5,000 lbs. has increased for this time period by 2.8 percent.
Luzerne County has also experienced a slight decrease in the number of registrations from 2021 to 2022 by .02 percent but an increase of 2.0 percent in the number of trucks over 5,000 lbs.
Wayne County, unlike the other two counties in the region, has seen an increase in the number of registrations from 2021 to 2022 by 0.4 percent. Similarly, for this time period, there was an increase of 2.0 percent in the total number of vehicle registrations for trucks over 5000 lbs.
The Commonwealth has experienced a decrease of 1.0 percent in the number of registrations from 2021 to 2022 but a 1.8 percent increase in the number of registrations for trucks over 5,000 lbs.
