Description of the Indicator
This indicator measures the number and percentage of households in the area with no vehicle available.
Why is it important?
Estimates on the number of households without a vehicle are essential because they provide insights into transportation accessibility and mobility constraints in a region. Additionally, it can aid in addressing transportation equity.
How is the region performing?
Lackawanna and Luzerne counties experienced a steady decrease in the number of households without a vehicle over time, although there was a slight increase of 0.2 percentage points from 2021 to 2022 in Luzerne County. Households without a vehicle in Wayne County are the same in 2022, 6.4 percent, as in 2000.
For the Commonwealth, households that do not have a vehicle follow a similar trend to Lackawanna and Luzerne County’s, decreasing steadily over the time series from 12.8 percent in 2000 to 10.6 percent in 2022.
