Understanding how residents support themselves help to identify the strengths and weaknesses within an economy and where support may be needed.
How is the region performing?
Over 70.0 percent of the households in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties earn wages, along with nearly 66.0 percent in Wayne County. These are strong numbers in each of the communities. Wayne County has a larger percentage of residents with social security and retirement incomes. Approximately four percent of the region’s population relies on cash assistance.
