Why is it important?
The number of business establishments in a given area highlights current and potential economic patterns and reflects overall economic health. This figure underscores local activity and may facilitate the attraction of new businesses.
How is the region performing?
All four counties experienced an increase in the total number of establishments from 2023 to 2024, following a period of decline in the previous year. Only Lackawanna County has a smaller number of establishments than it did in 2020. The number of establishments in Pennsylvania has grown steadily.
