Description of Indicator
This indicator allows for a trend analysis of reported alcohol-related deaths from car accidents.
Why is it Important?
Alcohol abuse is a regional, statewide, national, and worldwide problem. Tracking alcohol-related crash deaths allows for effective allocation of resources for prevention programs and targeted interventions such as sobriety checkpoints.
How is the region performing?
The number of alcohol-related crash deaths has fluctuated in all three counties over the past decade, but they remain slightly lower than the 2012 numbers. The same is true for the Commonwealth.
