DUI Offenses

Description of Indicator
This indicator measures the number of annual DUI (driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol) arrests reported.

Why is it Important?
Tracking DUI offenses allows for effective resource allocation. Where DUI is problematic, for instance, law enforcement may implement efforts such as sobriety checkpoints. This data may also help measure the impact of specialized interventions and prevention programs.

How is the region performing?
DUI offenses have not followed a clear trend in recent years. From 2023 to 2024, recorded offenses declined in Lackawanna and Wayne Counties and the Commonwealth. Offenses in Luzerne County increased from 992 in 2023 to 1,438 in 2024.
