Description of the Indicator
This indicator measures the number of juvenile arrests, regardless of the type, in the four-county area and the Commonwealth.
Why is it important?
Juvenile arrests may be precipitated by a variety of issues, ranging from poverty to household violence. Tracking the data and investigating not only the types of crimes but also the offenders’ backgrounds can lead to solutions to reduce juvenile crime and provide meaningful support.
How is the region performing?
The number of juvenile arrests has fluctuated considerably throughout the years. The region and state generally saw a decline in 2025 compared to last year. Lackawanna County’s number remained fairly steady, however, increasing by one more arrest than the prior year.
