Description of Indicator
This indicator measures a variety of school misconduct incidents and trends and changes over time.
Why is it Important?
School safety has become a growing problem in our society from threats internal and external to the school. A safe environment is critical to protect our children’s mental and physical health as well as their families. Changes in behavior are often indicative of other issues and therefore monitoring and understanding these could lead to root cause solutions.
How is the region performing?
Aside from the 2020 pandemic year, there have been increases in incidents in Luzerne County and the state. Lackawanna and Wayne counties saw a decrease from 2021 – 2022 year to the 2022 – 2023 year.
