Description of Indicator
The broadband indicator depicts the percentage of households with internet access, categorized by race and ethnicity, age, education, and employment status.

Why is it Important?
Access to the internet is crucial for households for a myriad of reasons, including maintaining communication, searching for jobs, and participating in educational activities, among other critical tasks, such as banking and healthcare access.

How is the Region Performing?
Across all studied geographies and race and ethnicity types, Black households in Lackawanna County comprise the smallest proportion of households with internet subscriptions (82.5 percent – a decrease from 87.1 percent from the prior year). Individuals aged 65 and older, and those with less than a high school diploma, also comprise smaller shares of households with internet subscriptions.
